Single Review: Vivian Green – Get Right Back To My Baby

Another week and another musical discovery for us here at TFSR, as we stumbled upon one of our new favourite songs of the year, Vivian Green’s ‘Get Right Back To My Baby’. Born in Philadelphia and raised on a diet of Motown and classic soul, Vivian Green has already released several impressive albums, including the sultry album The Green Room in 2012.

This new single is the first song taken from her new upcoming album to be released at some point later on this year, and if the rest of the album is as good as this debut single, this could be one of the albums of the year. For fans of the legendary soul group Maze, you’ll recognise the sample immediately: Green’s producer Kwame, of Mary J. Blige/Christina Aguilera fame, has cleverly incorporated Maze’s classic ‘Before I Let Go’ giving the song a classic yet contemporary groove. Green shares a similar vocal style with Mary J. Blige, possessing a truly powerful and impressive range. The song has a real bouncy groove to it, making it the perfect summer groove for 2015. Green has provided us with a great teaser of her new album, and we’re very excited to hear what else she has in store for us this year.
