On Friday jazz-man Gregory Porter released the first single off his brand new album due out this May.
After what seems like a thousand re-issues of his Grammy Award winning album Liquid Spirit, the nation’s favourite jazz singer is set to release his first album in three years. On May 6th Gregory Porter will release his long awaited follow-up album Take Me To The Alley on Universal/Decca Records.
Porter’s rise as the next great jazz vocalist has been pretty spectacular. The world was introduced to Porter through two stunning albums on Montema Music, the stunning Water and equally brilliant Be Good. In 2013 he was signed to Universal Blue Note and released the platinum selling Liquid Spirit and has cemented himself as one of the UK’s favourite artists. He is due to tour the UK next month.
The first single to be released from the album is his jazz version of ‘Holding On’, originally performed by himself and Disclosure last year. Porter has completely reworked the dance smash, stripping the song down into his trademark jazz style and delivering another superb vocal.
Gregory Porter is back ladies and gentlemen, and we are delighted.
