Beginning as a dancer on the American music programme Soul Train, Jeffrey Daniel is an icon of 1970s/80s soul and funk as one of the founding members of the group Shalamar. Along with lead singer Howard Hewitt and Jody Watley, Daniel has sold over 25 million albums worldwide as well as entertaining audiences for the past three decades.

We were fortunate enough to speak with Jeffrey on this edition of The Funk and Soul Revue who is – along with Howard Hewitt, and newest member Carolyn Griffey – currently on the road here in the UK, bringing the Shalamar sound to all corners of the British Isles. We discussed his career, working with Michael Jackson, the state of British soul music, disputes over the Shalamar legacy, and what to expect from one of their shows. Our thanks to Jeffrey for taking time out to speak with us here on The Funk & Soul Revue, and urge you to check out the tour dates below and get your tickets now!
